Shane: Tell us about your film?

Javier: A game of seduction that crosses borders.

 

S: How did you come up with the idea for the film?

J: The story was conceived over a late night, long distance phone call with my brother.

 

S: Was this a school project?

J: It was a film commissioned by Channel 5 in Mexico.

 

S: S: How did you find your cast? 

J: We auditioned several girls for Ana’s role and Alex is a friend of ours studying acting in NY.

 

S: How long did the film take?  (From conception to final edit)

J: The Film took around 2 months to complete. 

 

S: What was the most difficult part of the shoot for you?

J: Having to shoot in so many high profile locations with very strict time limitations.

 

S: Tell us about the films festival experience so far?

J: It has screened in festivals in Chicago, Los Angeles, Hollywood, NY, Morelia, The Short Film Corner at Cannes, Edinburgh etc. And all have been incredibly fun and well organized.

 

S: What are you most looking forward to at the festival?

J: If I can attend, I’m really looking forward to seeing the other short films that are screening with ours.

 

S: What has been your most interesting Q&A so far?  What was your favorite question?  How was the dialogue afterwards?

J: They rarely have Q&A @ short film festivals. But one I can remember is someone asking me “so what happens next? “

 

S: What films or filmmakers inspire you?

 J: Antonioni, Lynch, Polanski, Fassbinder, Cassavetes etc.

 

S: What made you decide to become a filmmaker?

J: My love of films since I was very young. 

 

S: What is next for you? 

J: Making Features.

 

S: What is next for the film?

J: Waiting to hear back on a few more festivals.

 

S: If asked to give one piece of advice to a new filmmaker making their first short film… What would it be?

J: Just do it!
